Job Description: Staff Accountant
Summary:
Kaas Wilson Architects is an award-winning architectural firm located in Bloomington. Our well-managed team of 60+ architects, interior designers, and interns operate in an open, fast-paced, and collaborative office environment that brings design experience and a team approach together, creating beautiful, practical, and livable built environments. Our office is focused on multi-family housing, senior living, historic preservation, and commercial projects with current project locations across the country but focused in the Midwest.
The staff accountant will be a key member of our administrative team responsible to perform a wide variety of accounting tasks including payroll, account reconciliations, and invoicing among others. The ideal candidate would be described as professional, self-motivated, and organized with the ability to learn quickly and capable of switching gears throughout the day.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable
- Manage Accounts Receivable
- Reconciliation of key transactions between our accounting and project management software
- Reconciliation of Benefit GL accounts to AP invoices from benefit providers
- Participate in monthly general ledger close procedure to produce monthly financial statements
- Assist with monthly payroll and related tax and benefit transactions
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Assist with gathering data for the preparation of tax return documentation
- Assist CFO with any special projects
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. Working knowledge of GAAP
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
- Work Environment: 40+ hours work week in an office environment. Will be regularly sitting and using a computer. Sit/stand desks are provided. Moderate noise as is common in an open concept office environment
- Travel: Limited travel required
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must possess attention to detail and be able to multi-task
- Must be organized and have good time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels of the office
- Detail-oriented with good analytic and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with word processing software and spreadsheet applications
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with employee information and sensitive matters
